Potola Palace, from entrance gate to Lhasa, Tibet

The thirteen-storey building containing over 1,000 rooms, 10,000 shrines and around 200,00 statues commands a view over all of Lhasa.  Formerly the winter residence of the Dalai Lama, it was the seat of Tibetan government, housed a school for training monks and administrators and still contains the tombs of past Dalai Lama’s.

Be awed by the golden statues, three-dimensional mandalas, ancient scriptures and religious and cultural relics while walking through one of the great architectural wonders of the world
